DOH cautions public against online scammers

MANILA — The Department of Health on Sunday warned the public against online scammers pretending as DOH officials and asking for favors.

“The department reminds the public that it is not soliciting any favors from other DOH units, government agencies nor the public,” the DOH said.

The advisory has been released by the agency after receiving reports of online scammers using the names of DOH officials.

The scammer uses a random number posing as a health official and then solicits favors by acquiring gift cards, according to the DOH.

The DOH warned the public not to give personal information and instead block senders of such solicitations.

Scammers may be reported to the National Bureau of Investigation or the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group.
