NDRRMC: More than 300 families evacuated due to Neneng

MANILA – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has logged more than 300 families who evacuated from Region 2 and took shelter in several evacuation centers due to Typhoon Neneng on Sunday.

According to its latest situation report, the NDRRMC said 337 families or 960 individuals preemptively evacuated in the municipalities of Lal-lo, Camalaniugan, Baggao, Santa Praxedes, Buguey, Lasam, Ballesteros, and Calayan in Cagayan province.

The most evacuees came from the municipality of Baggao with 252 families or 717 individuals.

The NDRRMC stated that no casualty was reported so far.

“Neneng” will continue moving westward or west northwestward over the West Philippine Sea until Monday early morning, then turn and move generally west southwestward or southwestward for the remainder of Monday through Wednesday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 5 p.m. bulletin the typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It is moving west northwestward at 15 kph.

Signal No. 2 was raised over Batanes, the western portion of Babuyan Islands (Dalupiri Is., Calayan Is., Panuitan Is., Babuyan Is.), and the northwestern portion of Ilocos Norte (Bangui, Burgos, Pagudpud, Pasuquin, Bacarra)

Meanwhile, Signal No. 1 was raised over the western portion of Cagayan (Allacapan, Aparri, Ballesteros, Abulug, Sanchez-Mira, Pamplona, Claveria, Santa Praxedes, Rizal, Lasam), Apayao, the northern portion of Abra (San Juan, Tayum, Langiden, Lagangilang, Danglas, La Paz, Dolores, Lacub, Tineg, Lagayan, Bangued), the rest of Ilocos Norte, and the northern portion of Ilocos Sur (Magsingal, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, Sinait, San Ildefonso, City of Vigan, Cabugao, Caoayan, San Juan, Bantay, Santo Domingo).

“Neneng” is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Sunday night.
