House committees to hold hearings during break

MANILA – The House of Representatives has authorized for its committees to conduct hearings during the five-week congressional break, extending until late April.

Prior to adjourning session for the Holy Week break on Wednesday, the House approved the standing and special committees to hold hearings during the recess period.

House Deputy Majority Leader Faustino “Inno” Dy 5th proposed that the committees be allowed to convene meetings or public hearings from March 21 to April 28.

The motion was approved by House Deputy Speaker and TUCP Party-list Rep. Raymond Democrito Mendoza.

“Allowing committee hearings during the break demonstrates our dedication to fulfilling our duties as legislators and addressing the needs of our constituents,” Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said.

Romualdez emphasized that the legislative inquiries conducted to exercise oversight functions have played a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity of government institutions and ensuring the welfare of the people.

“These inquiries are the bedrock of accountability and transparency within our government,” he said.

The House is scheduled to resume session on April 29.

Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta Party-list Rep. Margarita Ignacia Nograles stated on Tuesday that efforts are being made to address various local bills, national bills, and other legislative matters that require attention.
