President Marcos assures funding for shelter programs

MANILA – National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Joeben Tai on Sunday said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has vowed continued funding for the government’s housing programs.

Tai said that the assurance was made by the Chief Executive during the awarding of housing units for 360 beneficiaries at the agency’s project “Ciudad Kaunlaran” in Barangay Molino 2, Bacoor City, Cavite on Jan. 12, 2024.

“With the President, himself, declaring his continued support to NHA’s housing programs, we could now fully carry out our mandate in building more housing units designed primarily for the poor and homeless Filipinos,” he said.

Tai and Assistant General Manager Alvin Feliciano thanked the President and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar who has been in the forefront of the government’s Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) program.

“With Secretary Jerry Acuzar, the government through the NHA would not stop building more housing units so that more Filipinos would have their own shelters,” Marcos said during the Cavite event.

Tai said the NHA will help the government address the housing backlog.

“The NHA is looking forward to the renewal of its charter and is thankful for the unending support of several members of the House of the Representatives and senators to extend the life of NHA,” Tai said. “With President Marcos Jr.’s commitment, NHA is assured of continuous funding for its housing programs,” he added.
