DOH: 8 Filipinos from China, tested positive for Covid-19

MANILA — The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday confirmed that eight Filipino travelers who came from China tested positive for Covid-19 after undergoing antigen testing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

According to the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), Filipino travelers landed in the Philippines from December 27, 2022 to January 2, 2023. It is said that they were not vaccinated so they were subjected to antigen testing based on existing government protocols.

“Based on current protocols, non-fully vaccinated individuals who are unable to present a negative predeparture test result are tested upon arrival at the airport,” according to the DOH.

These individuals are said to be currently in isolation and also underwent confirmatory RT-PCR testing on December 31, 2022 where they tested positive again.

Tiniyak naman ng DOH na patuloy ang mahigpit nilang monitoring at surveillance laban sa Covid-19 sa mga pumapasok na biyahero, maging ang mga nangyayari na trends sa mundo.

The Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) initially said that several passengers who came from China were discovered positive for Covid-19 and are now in isolation.
