MANILA — After severe Tropical Storm Luis exited the Philippines area of responsibility yesterday morning, the majority of the country is forecast to experience generally fair weather by the weekend.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), there are no weather disturbances being seen inside the archipelago.
Before exiting the Philippine area around 9 a.m. yesterday, Luis intensified into a severe tropical storm.
Last observed 1,200 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, the cyclone is anticipated to continue heading northward.
As it moves east of the Ryukyu islands, Luis could intensify into a typhoon with maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph.
PAGASA stated that the intertropical convergence zone was impacting southern Mindanao.
Due to the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms, isolated rain showers are likely in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, despite the forecast for generally fair weather.
Today, Metro Manila will have temperatures between 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.
