LPA approaches PAR

MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) detected another low-pressure area (LPA) heading toward Northern Luzon even before Typhoon Inday could exit the country.

Within the next three days, the LPA, which is yet to enter the Philippine area of responsibility, may develop into a tropical storm. It was last seen yesterday at 2,255 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

According to PAGASA, Typhoon Inday (Muifa) is anticipated to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by tomorrow morning or afternoon and head in the direction of Taiwan.

It added that the typhoon is getting stronger and moving slower at 330 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It is moving west northwest at 10 kilometers per hour.

Though Inday is no longer bringing rain to Northern Luzon, the southwest monsoon or habagat is forecast to bring rain showers and thunderstorms to Batanes and the western sections of Northern Luzon.
