MANILA – An official of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Wednesday stated that the second tranche of the government’s fuel subsidy program may be distributed to operators and drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) by early July.
LTFRB Executive Director Maria Kristina Cassion said in a message to the reporters that the documentary requirements for the distribution of funds for the second tranche are being prepared.
“We’re targeting early July. However, it would also depend on how fast the DBM (Department of Budget and Management) can download the funds to us,” Cassion said.
The beneficiaries may receive the fuel subsidy “much faster” for the second tranche as their cards would have been produced by the Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), she noted.
“Crediting to the account of the beneficiaries will be through the top-up method,” she said.
The LTFRB has so far disbursed the first tranche of the government’s fuel subsidy program — amounting to PHP6,500 — to a total of 264,578 beneficiaries as of Tuesday.
It stated that the remaining 31,992 beneficiaries will receive their cash disbursement from the LBP on Friday.
A total of 16,992 beneficiaries under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) have received their payment, 5,525 are expected to get their disbursement by Friday, while 5,260 have been denied by the LBP system and returned to the DTI owing to an invalid GCash or Paymaya account.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), on the other hand, claimed that a total of 617,806 drivers and operators of tricycles will receive a disbursement under the fuel subsidy program.
With an allocation of PHP625 million, each tricycle beneficiary with a DTI certification will receive PHP1,000.
