Marcos meets with PRRD; hosts dinner for senators

MANILA – After meeting former president Rodrigo Duterte in Malacañang on Wednesday night, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. also met with senators for a “get together.”

Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos hosted a dinner for the senators at the Palace.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go shared a series of photographs from Aug. 2 gathering, where he took selfies with the President and First Lady and other fellow Senators.

“Matapos saksihan ni Senator Bong Go ang pagkikita nina dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at Pangulong Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. nitong August 2, Miyerkules sa Malacañang Palace, nagsama-sama naman sa isang get-together dinner ang mga senador sa Bahay Pangulo kasama sina President Marcos at First Lady Liza Marcos (After witnessing the meeting of former president Rodrigo Duterte and President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. on Aug. 2, Wednesday, in Malacañang Palace, the senators with President Marcoa and First Lady Liza Marcos met in a get-together dinner),” Go said on a Facebook post.

Go said they thanked the President for the opportunity to “visit and talk to him.”

According to Senate President Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, they had a “very casual and cordial dinner meeting” with Marcos mostly “just to catch up and bond with the members of the Senate.”

Zubiri said several topics were discussed from the current flooding to Agriculture and the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

“The President is well aware of the stand of the Senate on the WPS issue and respects the sense of the Senate regarding this issue. We reported that the resolution was discussed together with Secretary Manalo so that we were in the same page with the Executive,” Zubiri said.

However, he added, that they did not dwell much on that topic “as we wanted to keep the dinner a cordial and casual get together.” (MB)
