NDRRMC: 44 injured in Abra quake

MANILA – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Thursday stated that at least 44 people were confirmed to have been injured in magnitude 6.4 earthquake which jolted Abra and other parts of Northern Luzon Tuesday night.

According to the NDRRMC’s latest report, the validated figure includes 32 from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and 12 from Ilocos Region.

The NDRRMC has yet to receive reports of earthquake-related fatalities or missing individuals.

Some 18,478 families or equivalent to 61,514 individuals residing in 208 barangays in Ilocos Region and CAR, were reported to have been affected by the earthquake as of Thursday morning.

Of this figure, 22 families or 76 persons are being served in three evacuation centers while the rest are being helped by relatives or friends.

The NDRRMC also reported that 1,821 houses were damaged in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley and the CAR.

Approximately 1,813 houses were identified as “partially damaged” and eight as “totally damaged”.

The infrastructure damage in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera was estimated to be at PHP57.7 million.
