MANILA – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Friday reported that the number of people affected by Super Typhoon Karding has risen to 911,404, or equivalent to 245,063 families in seven areas.
These individuals are from 1,759 villages in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Only 921 families are currently sheltering in 27 evacuation centers with the rest returning home or looking for shelter with family and friends.
The death toll from the typhoon has risen to 12 with six still missing.
There have been eight confirmed deaths: five in San Miguel and one in Baliwag, both in the province of Bulacan; one in Zambales and one in Burdeos, Quezon. Four other fatalities are still being validated: two in Tanay, Rizal, one in Antipolo, and one in Zambales.
Reports of five missing people in Mercedes, Camarines Norte, and one in Patnanungan, Quezon are still pending confirmation.
There were 59,916 damaged houses in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and CAR.
Of the number, there were 50,025 partially damaged houses and 6,891 completely damaged houses.
