NTC: More than 11.2 million SIM cards registered

MANILA — The number of SIM cards registered in the country has reached over 11.2 million.

Based on the data released by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) yesterday, it showed that as of January 2, 2023, a total of 11,219,722 SIM cards have been registered.

This includes 1,017,012 of DITO Telecommunity; 5,030,649 of Globe Telecom; and 5,172,061 of Smart Communications.

SIM registration was initiated only on December 27, 2022, following the effectivity date of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act 11934 or the SIM Registration Act.

SIM users have 180 days to register their used SIM cards to avoid deactivation.

New SIM cards must be registered before they can be used.
