SWS: 75% of Pinoys satisfied with Marcos’ performance in 4Q 2022

MANILA – The results of the 4th quarter of 2022 Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that 75 percent of adult Filipinos are satisfied, 18 percent are undecided, and 7 percent are dissatisfied with the performance of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as president.

The survey was conducted from Dec. 10 to 14, 2022 with 1,200 adult respondents nationwide.

“Compared to October 2022, gross satisfaction with President Marcos rose from 71 percent, gross undecided fell from 21 percent, and gross dissatisfaction hardly moved from 8 percent,” SWS said when it released the results of President Marcos’ satisfaction rating on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

The national findings of the SWS December 2022 survey on people’s satisfaction with the President were first presented at the 2023 SWS Survey Review on Feb. 7.

President Marcos’ resulting net satisfaction rating is +68 (percentage of satisfied minus percentage of dissatisfied), classified by SWS as “very good.”

This is five points up from the very good +63 in October 2022.

‘Excellent’ in Mindanao, ‘very good’ elsewhere

According to SWS, President Marcos’ net satisfaction was highest in Mindanao at an excellent +72, followed by very good levels in Balance Luzon at +68, the Visayas at +67, and Metro Manila at +65 in the December 2022 survey.

“Compared to October 2022, net satisfaction with President Marcos did not change from +72 in Mindanao and +65 in Metro Manila. However, it rose by 11 points from +56 in the Visayas and by 8 points from +60 in Balance Luzon,” SWS said.

By locale, it noted that net satisfaction with President Marcos was higher in rural areas at an excellent +74 than in urban areas at a very good +62.

Compared to October 2022, SWS said President Marcos’ net satisfaction rose by 13 points from +61 in rural areas, but barely moved from +65 in urban areas.

Moreover, President Marcos’ net satisfaction rating was an excellent +70 among men and a very good +66 among women.

“Compared to October 2022, net satisfaction with President Marcos rose by 7 points from +63 among men, while it rose by 4 points among women,” SWS said.

’Excellent’ rating given by ages 25-34, 35-44

In the December 2022 survey, the President’s net satisfaction was also very good at +68 among the 18-24-year-olds, excellent at +73 among the 25-34-year-olds, excellent at +71 among the 35-44-year-olds, very good at +68 among the 45-54-year-olds, and very good at +64 among those 55 years old and older.

“Compared to October 2022, net satisfaction with the President hardly moved from +70 among the 18-24-year-olds. It rose by 13 points from +60 among the 25-34-year-olds, by nine points from +62 among the 35-44-year-olds, and by four points from +64 among the 45-54-year-olds. It barely changed from +62 among those 55 years old and older,” SWS said.

President Marcos’ net satisfaction rating was also excellent at +73 among those who either had no formal education or some elementary education, very good at +64 among those who either finished elementary or had some high school education, excellent at +72 among those who either finished junior high school, had some vocational schooling, had some senior high school, finished senior high school, completed vocational school, or attended some college, and very good at +55 among those who either graduated from college or took post-graduate studies.

“Compared to October 2022, the President’s net satisfaction rating rose by 6 points from +67 among those who either had no formal education or some elementary education. It did not change from +64 among those who either finished elementary or had some high school education. It rose by 8 points from +64 among those who either finished junior high school, had some vocational schooling, had some senior high school, finished senior high school, completed vocational school, or attended some college, and by 5 points from +50 among those who either graduated from college or took post-graduate studies,” SWS said.
